Part of Kellogg Boulevard and parking ramp to close Monday (July 30) for bridge repairs
The westbound lanes of Kellogg Boulevard between Washington Street and West Seventh Street in downtown St. Paul will close Monday for bridge repairs.
This stretch of road, between the Science Museum of Minnesota and the Xcel Energy Center, is expected to remain closed until Sept. 30, according to a news release issued Wednesday by the St. Paul Public Works Department.
“Kellogg and West Seventh is a busy intersection for people getting in and out of Saint Paul,” Public Works Director Kathy Lantry said in the release. “We are asking visitors to plan ahead and allow a little extra time to get around posted detours and to find parking in Downtown Saint Paul.”
Crews will be repairing and replacing four bridge expansion joints beneath the street, and they will pour a new concrete overlay on the existing bridge deck, the news release said.
The project will also close the Kellogg Parking Ramp. All current Kellogg Ramp contract users have been notified of the closure and will be temporarily relocated to other parking spaces, according to the release.
The eastbound lanes of Kellogg Boulevard and the Exchange Street tunnel will remain open to traffic during the project.
